SPS Wins Three ACI Maryland Chapter Project Awards

SPS received three awards from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Maryland Chapter. An Award of Excellence was received in the Rehabilitation Category for the T. Rowe Price building slab modification. The project entailed the major interior renovation of a post-tensioned building in Baltimore's bustling Inner Harbor in order to incorporate a new lobby with escalators.

SPS also received Honorable Mention in the Rehabilitation Category for the South Locust Point Marine Terminal expansion project. Located in Baltimore, the terminal was being expanded to

handle additional cargo. The project involved extending an existing pier, and this expansion required the strengthening of existing pier caps.

In addition, SPS received Honorable Mention in the Rehabilitation Category for the parking structure and concrete beam repair of a government office building in the Washington, D.C. area.

SPS' Preservation Efforts Honored for Davidge Hall

On the historic side, SPS Baltimore was honored with Preservation Awards from both the Maryland Historic Trust and Baltimore Heritage, Inc. for its efforts on Davidge Hall. SPS was called upon to restore Davidge Hall's 200-year-old windows and doors to replicate the original in profile, substance and appearance, using as much original material as possible.

ICRI Baltimore / Washington Chapter Honors SPS Baltimore

SPS Baltimore also received the ICRI Baltimore / Washington Chapter "Project of the Year" Award for the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Concrete Repair and Cathodic Protection project. Repair work was completed to the intake floor, circular water pump bowels and salt water pits. To help prevent future corrosion, the team installed an impressed current cathodic protection system.
