A total of 19 10-meter long Lifejackets® were supplied as part of a rehabilitation effort on five lighthouse channel markers which guide safe travel through the Hydrographers Passage on the Great Barrier Reef. The passage is an area within the reef, located in the 1980’s, that provides safe deep water passage through the reef structure.
The contract for the rehabilitation was awarded by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority to Australian Maritime Systems (AMS) who contracted Electro Tech CP to supply the Lifejackets®. The Lifejacket® system presented an ideal solution - providing a simple, cost-effective, minimally-invasive system for repairing the concrete columns of the channel markers and establishing a long term, maintenance free corrosion control system.
Because of the ease of installation, appropriate training crews were able to install the Lifejackets® despite a worksite approximately 200 kilometers off shore, batch-mixing concrete on board a small vessel while dealing significant weather challenges.
