The Orange County Sanitation District protects the environment through effective wastewater treatment. Digester tanks are central to this process, breaking down and removing solids.

Constructed in the 1970s and exposed to a highly corrosive coastal environment, two digester tanks showed significant wear. Routine inspections revealed structural deterioration around the ring beams, prompting the need for immediate repairs.

STRUCTURAL, with expertise in post-tensioning and digester tank rehabilitation, led the repair efforts. Damaged concrete was removed, rebar cleaned or replaced, and new concrete restored structural integrity. Ring beams were enlarged and strengthened using post-tensioning systems encased in concrete, enhancing both durability and load-carrying capacity.

Throughout the project, STRUCTURAL worked in close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure that repairs were completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The completed work significantly improves the structural reliability of the tanks and supports the continued operation of the facility in an environmentally sustainable manner for years to come.
