An oil refinery in the United States was experiencing vibration in a large hydrogen compressor. During a scheduled turnaround, the equipment was removed for service and the owner decided to repair and strengthen the foundation system.
STRUCTURAL was contracted to demolish portions of the existing foundation, install new anchor bolts, place new concrete and install an epoxy grout.
The entire foundation repair project was safely completed in 9 days. After the compressor was restarted, an analysis revealed that frame movement was reduced from 7 mils (0.007”) to 1 mil (0.001”), decreasing movement by 86%.
