- 1,000 linear-feet of reinforced concrete tunnel
Years of moisture and water exposure in a 1,000-foot reinforced concrete tunnel system beneath the El Reno Federal Correctional Institution led to significant damage, including spalling and cracking of the walls and ceiling. This deterioration compromised the structural integrity of the tunnel.
STRUCTURAL was contracted for their concrete repair expertise. The repair scope encompassed comprehensive work on the walls, ceiling, and floor slab, along with crack repairs and flood testing.
Given the site’s stringent security requirements, daily setup and teardown were necessary. Additionally, careful coordination and planning were essential due to existing pipe obstructions, as the tunnel was used for utilities and maintenance.
The project was completed safely, under budget, and ahead of schedule, resulting in a durable long-term solution and effective mitigation of water infiltration.
