A Gulf Coast chemical plant needed to replace a sump and its surrounding concrete due to deterioration.

STRUCTURAL, a licensee of STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES’ engineered products and services, developed an innovative solution to improve long-term durability and reduce installation time designing and manufacturing a new precast polymer concrete sump. STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES custom designed and fabricated the unit from specialized polymer concrete, which offered high chemical resistance compared to standard, cast-in-place concrete.

For the installation of the new unit, STRUCTURAL removed the original sump and the area concrete, set and leveled the new unit, connected it to piping systems, and placed new concrete around the perimeter. The solution immediately allowed for equipment installation since there was no delays for concrete curing.
